bySeif Al-Din

He might seem like a man of few words according to the answers he gave us, but co-founder of the increasingly successful Arab-American Comedy Festival, Dean Obeidallah is making more than just jokes – he’s making moves for himself and the scene. Here are a few things you may not have known about the Dean of Comedy.

Arab country with the best sense of humor: Every Arab country I’ve performed in the crowds have been great (don’t worry, we’ll get the non politically correct answer out of Dean in our next interview…)
Bet on in a fight: Nancy v. Haifaa: Haifaa
Book(s): It changes based on my life- right now I’d say Blink and Tipping Point both by Malcolm Gladwell.

6Qs
1. What would be funnier to work with in an impromptu piece: a uni-brow or a pair of Blublocker sunglasses?
A uni-brow.

Chris Rock, Jon Stewart and Richard Pryor

Not one second!

My father who passed away 10 years ago.

I have done some acting but I prefer stand up because you write your own material.

6. How easy/hard is it to get booked at non-arab-centric shows?
Most of my shows are non-Arab. That is why I greatly look forward to the “Arab shows” here in the U.S. and in the Middle East.
